TRUTH   JUSTICE   FREEDOM

“WHAT THEY STOOD FOR SO BRAVELY, WILL NEVER BE STOLEN BY BULLETS OR BY INVASIONS, IT CANNOT BE SILENCED BY THUGS, IT IS UNIVERSAL, IT IS UNMISTAKABLE AND IT IS CALLED....FREEDOM”

“Today, people all across the world are asking for their rights, asking for the privilege to be able to live by defining their own nation, defining their futures.

Those who took to the streets in order to stand against tyranny and to demand democracy, were instead picked off one after the other.

They raised their voices for dignity and for freedom. But, what they stood for so bravely, I say with full conviction, will never be stolen by bullets or by invasions, it cannot be silenced by thugs, it is universal, it is unmistakable and it is called....FREEDOM”

The above words were spoken by John Kerry, US Secretary of State, on a visit to Ukraine yesterday. He is referring to the Ukrainian demonstrators who were shot dead by police, while peacefully protesting against the President and the direction his Government was taking the country in. John Kerry’s words echo the journey of the Sikhs over the past three decades. For those people who feel Sikhs should move on and not hold on to the past, this is a reminder that the issues faced by Punjab thirty years ago, still exist today and the struggle that our Nation is going through, is one that is being repeated in other parts of the world.
